Shehabeldin awarded prestigious AAP Foundation Fellowship

The University of Texas at San Antonio Health Science Center is proud to recognize , diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, assistant professor in the Department of Periodontics, for being selected as one of only three recipients nationwide of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) Foundation Fellowship to the Academy for Academic Leadership (AAL) Institute for Teaching and Learning in the Health Professions.
This competitive fellowship provides full tuition for the Program for Dental School Faculty, a nationally respected initiative. Designed to strengthen teaching and academic leadership in dentistry, the program helps participants develop skills in curriculum design, classroom and clinical teaching, mentoring, career planning and educational leadership. The program includes four days of immersive in-person training, with opportunities for expanded virtual experiences, case-based learning, peer teaching observations and mentored rotations with experienced dental faculty.
Shehabeldin expressed his gratitude for this recognition, sharing, “Receiving the Institute for Teaching and Learning Fellowship from the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation has been an outstanding opportunity to strengthen my teaching and leadership skills. It reflects the Foundation’s strong commitment to nurturing the academic growth of early-career Periodontics faculty. I look forward to applying the insights I’ve gained to enrich the educational experience of my students at our School of Dentistry.”
