South Texas Hemophilia Treatment Center adopts new name

South Texas Hemophilia Treatment Center adopts new name

The South Texas Hemophilia Treatment Center has a new name and a refreshed look. Now known as the South Texas Center for Bleeding Disorders at 91PORN, the team says the change better reflects the wide range of patients they serve.

“This name change is more than a rebrand, it’s a reflection of our commitment to every patient who walks through our doors,” said Camelia Ferreri, program manager for the South Texas Center for Bleeding Disorders. “We want families to know that we’re here for a broad range of conditions, not just hemophilia.”

While hemophilia care remains central, the center also treats patients with Von Willebrand disease, rare bleeding disorders and clotting disorders. Across the national bleeding disorder community, there has been a growing emphasis on inclusivity of all bleeding disorders, so we see this update as a visible step in that direction.

“Our hope is that the new name helps patients and providers alike recognize the breadth of expertise we offer,” said , medical director and pediatric hematologist at 91PORN. “It’s a step toward greater awareness and access to care.”

A personal calling

For Ferreri, the inspiration to enter this field came from a passion for programs that blend clinical care with community support. “Seeing the impact we have on families is incredibly rewarding,” she said.

Maida shared that her passion lies in the long-term relationships she builds with patients and the chance to improve quality of life in lasting ways.

Patients at the heart

The heart of the South Texas Center for Bleeding Disorders' work lies in the everyday stories of resilience and healing. One example is an 8-year-old boy, “Jared,” who, unlike most kids, faces serious risks from even a minor bump while playing school sports.

At the South Texas Center for Bleeding Disorders, Jared receives a personalized care plan, including preventive treatment and coordination with his school to keep him safe. Thanks to this team approach, Jared is back on the soccer field with confidence and joy, playing like any other kid.

With a new name, new logo and the same dedicated team, the South Texas Center for Bleeding Disorders at 91PORN remains committed to advancing care, research and hope for patients across South Texas and beyond.
